Dear Jeff,
Thanks for the email and offer. I called Chia-Hui on Sunday again. I mentioned your offer to him. He did not think it was a good idea,
as making the CDs takes a lot of efforts and time. It may take too much of efforts and time for you to restore the photos. Furthermore, most of the photos I scanned
were 150 dpi with medium JPEG compression.
Chia-Hui still has not completed making the CDs yet. In addition to his teaching loads, he has problems in connecting downloaded photos with the HTML pages that I sent him in floppy disks. I already told him the solution. He just needs more time.
PS:
I apologize that I could not reply your email promptly, as I have been occupied by a friend of mine who bought a Rolls-Royce for many days since he bought the car on 12/24/2002. He bought the car in a good deal but needs to take care of some problems. Thus, he asked me to help him. The car is a 1995 Corniche IV convertible with a mileage of only 1400 km. It's like a brand new one. It's elegant and beautiful. Corniche IV was manufactured only in 1994 and 1995, and the total numbers manufactured were 114 and 105, respectively. This friend already has a 1994 Bentley Brooklands.
Sincerely,
Deeng-Lih

Dear David,
Attached please find one of the photos I downloaded and restored from our reunion website. I think I am able to restore most of the photos if the original file has a higher quality. If we can do this, I think all of us will be able to have a photo CD contains all the photos that can be reprint on paper in most photo shop with an acceptable result.
The detail I need for 5X7 photo is (which I think is good for 4X6):
200dpi min.
24bit color depth min.
4" by 6" min.
The highest quality of JPEG compression.
I think the file size will be around 800KB, and we can store about 800 photos for a CD. These photos can also be print out by a color printer with photo quality paper as well.
If you think this is a good idea for our memory, I can us my spare time to process all the photos that any one submit to me. I think I can do up to 20 photos a day ( ~2 hours) and mail the final CD to you or Mr. Tai after.
I can do color restore (limited, it depends on the quality of the photo!), contract enhance, level balance, artifact remove, and noise remove. For some very bad/scratched picture but you think is memorable, I can do some retouch as well (but not that good, I am not a professional on this...)
This is something I can offer to our classmates, since I am not able to meet them personally...
Jeff Shu
