Dear Classmates,
莊洸賢 sent me the email below followed by calling me in the morning and
afternoon. He asked me to forward the email to you and seek your opinions.
Below are my commons and suggestions.
1. In addition to the confirmed 14 classmates, the following 8 more classmates may be very likely to come if they are available then.

It's very likely that there will be a total of 20 or so classmates attending
the event without counting Prof. Chou and his family. Thus, the A 方案
-- 適合十六人之圓桌 , at the
台中福華大飯店十六樓翡翠廳 -- may not be fitting as it
could not accommodate so many people in a table.
2. B 方案 -- 適合二十四人之國宴圓桌
at the 台中金典酒店十四樓北京廳 -- seems to be too
expensive. It seems to me that the menu is over-priced. 許清雲 told me that he once ate at the
台南擔子麵 in Kaohsiung. Even though it was expensive, he felt the menu was so so and he seemed not to eat something significant.
3. 許清雲 told me that they had a birthday party for a professor of Ching-Hua at the
台中金典酒店 last year. Their experience was pretty good. The price was reasonable, and the hotel also offered a free one night stay for the professor. Furthermore, one attendee used corporate discount to cover the event.
許清雲 told me that 台中金典酒店 may be a good choice. He also told me that a total of $2000 per person for the whole event (including everything) may be a good choice. (台中金典酒店,

My suggestion is that we should be more pragmatic (務實) and spend the money on the real thing. If we can use the same or less money to get the same or better things or effects, why bother to spend more?
The ideal scenario is that we can have the luncheon and afternoon events at the same place provided that the foods are savory and the environment is delightful. As with many things, however, flexibility may be required. If it's not as wished, it may be unnecessary that we have to stick at one place, to have a big round table to accommodate everyone, or to have an isolated room for the luncheon. If we need to move to another place after the luncheon, why not use the same or less money (say $1000 or so) for both events and get savory foods for the luncheon (focusing more on foods for the luncheon such as a $500-700 per person buffet or banquet foods) and a delightful environment for the afternoon events (focusing more on the environment for the afternoon events).
Below are some examples of restaurants that may serve savory foods with reasonable prices.

台中福華大飯店十六樓翡翠廳 . Of course, the place is not a five star hotel.
